sunday evening seems like game time. for the past several months we have had some teenage friends from our ward over and lately we have had a great time playing games. the problem is i don't have many of THAT age appropriate games. i have taboo, cranium, and catch phrase (which i just bought and we haven't tried yet). does anyone out there have any other recommendations?
i was looking on amazon.com for ideas and i was reminded of a few others from my younger years that i may invest in: othello, pictionary, skipbo, and scattagories. one thing that is nice about some of these is that h can join us in the play, especially when we play on teams (like in taboo).
i'm waiting to hear what you've got...
speaking of games, this evening i saw lilo hiding behind the refrigerator and i peeked back to see what he was doing. he knew he was being naughty. he had a pen and was coloring on a toy. when he realized he was busted he closed his eyes tightly to hide from me. i wish i had taken a picture. it was so funny. that boy is cute even when he is being naughty.

My mom bought this "Imaginiff" game that is really fun for young and old. Basically the cards say, "Imagine if _______ (fill in blank with name of person in group) were an animal, what would he/she be? (there are all sorts of questions) Then you have 5 options. Everyone is trying to guess what that person will pick.
Also Apples to Apples is really fun. It's along the same lines and simple for kids to play.
And there are tons of card games...Nertz, spoons, egyptian rat race, that I love, I'll teach you them this weekend!
We love Apples to Apples and Scattergories. I was recently taught how to play Dominos, the specific game is called Chicken Feet. It was a lot of fun and H could play along. It could be a good game to help with counting J may even be able to be a helper with that game. My only suggestion if you buy Dominos is to buy the color ones, it makes the game a little easier. We also like Skip Bo and Phase 10. Another favorite is Sequence, but not too many can play that.
Sounds like a fun tradition you have started. If we get introduced to any new games I'll be sure to let you know.
BTW, thank you for your stroller advice. It has been very helpful. I didn't think it would be this hard to pick one, but it really is. There are just too many options!

Liza-
I've been wanting to try this game: The New Touch: A Game of Sensory Perception & Memory. It is available on www.amazon.com and sounds fun. I heard it is good for all ages.

snorta. hilarious. silly, fun, and some may think they are too cool, but believe me when i say it was the funnest time i have ever had playing a game. and i concur on the nertz factor. so fun. cards are the best!!!
Apples to Apples is our fav right now. Matt takes it to Young Mens all the time. Madeline has a great time playing it, and has for a few years, so it would be fine for H too.
How bout Murder in the Dark. OOOOOOHHH....fall back!
i like apples to apples too. scrappycook seems to have suggested lots of games on her blog lately (10 days in Europe was her most recent suggestion). grace is definitely at the game age and i'm starting to pull them out more, but little ones deter me more often than they should.
