Jameson, Liam, Liza, and Hattie standing in front of the Palmyra, NY temple (near the Joseph Smith log cabin).Hattie and Liam walking through the Sacred Grove.
Liam wanted to take a picture. There were benches throughout the grove and Jameson wanted to know why they were there. I told him that people could sit on the benches to think about the events that took place there many years ago. He wanted to sit down on every bench to "think about things."
Jameson's turn taking a picture.
Mama's turn.
Walking through the Sacred grove. Brad and I went there when Hattie was a baby and she screamed through the whole walk. This time she kept begging to "hit the road." Maybe some day she will appreciate this special place.
Hattie with the Angel Moroni in the palm of her hand in front of the Palmyra temple.
An attempt at cooperating for me to get a picture of the three of them in front of the temple.
We went to a fabulous children's museum in Rochester. Jameson loved the Carousel.
Lillian's first carousel ride. She is such a love.
Lilo checking out the big teeth in one of the exhibits.
Lilo ran away from me at one point and I watched him check out Papa bear at the Berenstein Bears exhibit. He couldn't resist giving him a hug.
We spent almost an hour in "back in time" exhibit. Jameson was pumping water from a well.
They had a kids sized grocery store. They loved that.
Jameson, Me and Lilo in front of the Pittsford Dairy farm. Hattie was feeling uncooperative.
Sweet little Lillian and her happy face.
Standing at the edge of the Erie Canal freezing our tails off. Lilo was simply uninterested in having his picture taken- big surprise!
The kids were on Spring Break this week and Brad had a big project that he was working on, so I decided to pack up the minivan and head North to the Palmyra, NY area to visit Liz Gleason Sutton and her sweet baby Lillian and husband Trent. We had a great time, except when the kids behaved like wild animals in our hosts home. Perhaps someday all of our Family Home Evening lessons on manners will kick in!

I love your face off and I want to eat your children and I love Liz Gleason! Christopher keeps asking me when Hattie is coming and I keep telling him I don't know. The other day he asked and I said "like 65 days, along time still". He asked me a few minutes later if it is "exactly 65 days". He wants to know down to the minute when you guys are coming. WE CAN'T WAIT!
Glad to see you're still alive and well! I've been curious to see what you've been up to. My hat goes off to you for being so adventurous! Your kids are so cute. I can't believe how grown up they all are.
Liza,
So I'm an official blogger now and can now leave comments. Woo hoo! It is always a joy to check in on your beautiful family -I can't help but think we would pick up right where we left off if ever we didn't live on opposite sides of the country! Next road trip: Chico, California!! :)
Love,
Melissa (Page) Dickson
Fun! So glad you had a getaway. We really miss you guys. Can we stop by this weekend? Hope you enjoyed the weather...
That comment from Melissa made my whole day!
We loved every second you were here and only wish it could have been longer. Lillian misses her boyfriends very much. Rochester called and told me to apologize for the stupid 35 degree weather we experienced while you were here. I told him we were going to break up. The leaves are finally on the trees so I got over it.
Love these...they turned out so good, and I am so glad you went up to visit.
When the family home evenings kick in, let me know, so I can plan ahead for my kids who are apparently being raised by wolves or something.
And my neice is so stinkin' cute. dangit.
How fun that must have been--though I have to admit it looks FREEZING! We were there in July and it was so nice and warm--and not too humid. It was crazy! Your kids are so cute--and I love Hattie's response to the grove. We're all waiting for the day when our kids pull through as the amazing, spiritual adults we intend them to be. When we went through the Draper Temple Open House I thought it would be this big, spiritual moment, and Coleman started crying--not because he was feeling the spirit but because he was mad that he didn't like the furniture and deocr because it wasn't as cool as we had told him it would be. Somehow he'd imagined golden pathways and diamonds throughout! Oh well! We also went to the children's museum and my kids LOVED that back in time exhibit. They played in that house FOREVER. How fun. We miss you and love you!
